Brown Noise
Noise Color
The color presets use approximated spectra; the dB/octave values are guidelines, not a calibrated measurement.
Frequency Range
Filter cutoff frequencies; outside this range the signal is attenuated, not hard-clipped.

Noise colors explained
What is white noise?
White noise contains all audible frequencies at equal energy. It sounds bright and hissy, like an untuned radio, and masks ambient sounds very evenly.
What is pink noise?
In pink noise, the energy drops by about 3 dB per octave. That makes it sound warmer and more balanced than white noise – similar to steady rain or wind. Many people find it more pleasant for falling asleep.
What is brown noise?
Brown noise rolls off even more steeply, by about 6 dB per octave, and sounds deep and muffled, like ocean surf or distant rumbling. It is popular for focus, relaxation and sleep.
What about blue or violet noise?
Blue (+3 dB/octave) and violet noise (+6 dB/octave) emphasize the high frequencies and sound correspondingly sharp. Use the “Spectral slope” slider to move smoothly between all colors.
Does Noise work offline and for free?
Yes. The noise is generated live in your browser – no audio files are loaded and no data is transmitted. Install Noise as an app on your device and it runs without internet, too.
Start at a low volume, especially with headphones. Noise is a sound tool, not a medical device.
